White Muscovy ducks, make an interesting addition to any flock! They originate from Brazil, and were then domesticated in Europe. They like to perch in trees and typically prefer watery habitats.
Primarily intended for meat production, this breed can grow to 12 pounds, in just 12 weeks. As Muscovy duck meat is very lean (98% fat free), and considerably less greasy than other meat type duck breeds, their meat is a great alternative to other types of commercially produced duck meat.
The Muscovy has a very peaceful temperament, and makes a great homesteading breed. Although this breed typically does not like to be handled, the amount of time spent with them as ducklings will directly influence their temperament.
